Abstract :

Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are generally commutated by six step pattern with commutation controlled by position sensors (Hall Effect Sensors), these set of sensors makes the motor drive complex, costly and difficult to maintain. As BLDC motors are widely used in automotive applications, they are not required to offer precise control and thus a sensor less method can be implemented for motor control.
