Abstract :

Mobility models is one of the key parameters that researchers have to consider to analyze the performance of the certain protocol in their simulation environment. The mobility model is designed to describe the movement pattern of mobile user and how their location, velocity and acceleration change over time. The selection of mobility model can have a major impact on the routing scheme and can thus influence performance. We studied several mobility models that represent mobile nodes whose movements are independent of each other (i.e. entity mobility models) and several mobility models that represent mobile nodes whose movements are dependent on each other (i.e. group mobility models). This paper provides an insight into the applicability of mobility models for energy conservation in MANETs
